Leeds Outreach
What began as a few churches getting together in 1994 to form a volunteer organization to meet the benevolent needs of the Leeds area called Leeds Welfare Cooperative has become Leeds Outreach, a 501c3 non-profit organization that helps families in Leeds, Alabama with food, utilities, medicine, school supplies and Christmas assistance.
For over 30 years, Leeds Outreach has worked solely with volunteers and to date has no paid staff members, rent or other bills so 100% of your donation goes directly to assisting those in need throughout our community.
We invite you to partner with us by your monetary or food donations as well as consider joining our volunteer team to carry out this important work. Your support and contributions enable us to meet our goals. Your generous donation will fund our mission. Monetary donations allow us to buy what is needed, in the quantity needed, when needed.
A Word from Our Director
For years, I have stated that in 1994, five area churches formed Leeds Welfare Cooperative. In doing research for our 30th Anniversary, I discovered it was seven pastors who had a vision of service for our community. I have no doubt what we have been able to accomplish, through your support, is what they envisioned.
Last year was tremendous for Leeds Outreach! We were able to serve record numbers in our Christmas for Kids program, our weekly food distribution and total assistance dollars. Your generous support made it possible for us to meet these milestones.
To celebrate our 30th Anniversary, we are proud to establish a scholarship program. Two recipients, from families we serve, will be able to use the funds for continuing education in a Trade, 2- or 4-year school of their choice. We are excited to see what the future holds for these recipients.
We look forward to serving our community for years to come.
With thanks,
Beverly Riddlesperger
It’s A Family Tradition…
We believe that Euel Musgrove, former director of Leeds Outreach, would be proud of his family members for their service as volunteers. Pictured with current director, Beverly Riddlesperger, are Euel’s son, John Musgrove, his daughter, Susan Musgrove Nelms, and his granddaughter, Beth Roe Leak.

Also, during 2023
We would like for you to know that during the 2023.....
Through the assistance of Walmart and Publix, we recovered, 62,006 pounds of food for our clients that would have otherwise been disposed of! We began receiving a generous milk delivery each week through the Central Alabama Food Bank. An additional food delivery from Publix became available to us for our Wednesday distribution.
A second refrigerator was purchased for our pantry.
A grant from HUD/ADECA assisted in lowering our pantry expenses.
School Supplies
A major project for us each summer is our School Supplies Drive.
With your help, in 2022, we were able to assist 111 kids with a complete list of needed supplies and required school fees. Many hours went into this endeavor, but in return, many were given all they needed for the classroom to begin the fall semester. In 2023, we were able to help even more children. Thanks to all who donated and worked on this project!
Earl Street Christmas

Again, we thank our ongoing sponsors and welcome our new sponsors. If you are interested in sponsoring one of our children, please contact us at leedsoutreach@gmail.com. We can’t make our program work without amazing sponsors!
